I love how architecture is a combination of creative expression and problem solving. I love being able to create spaces for people that will impact their everyday in a positive way.
Alexandra Kennedy is a Senior Architect, Associate, and the Practice Integrated Management System Lead, with over 14 years’ experience in the architectural industry. While specialising in corrections, health, and secure mental health design, Alexandra has had experience across multiple sectors including commercial, education, housing, and public spaces.
Alexandra has led two of GB-A’s largest and most significant projects including the Thomas Embling Hospital Expansion and Western Plains Correctional Centre, which is one of the largest correctional centres in Australia and the first prison to be accredited under the Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australia (ISCA) rating scheme.

Understanding the importance of prisoner rehabilitation, Alexandra applies a human-centric and biophilic design approach to the correctional environment to minimise the institutional feel of prisons to create therapeutic spaces without compromising safety and security.
With a passion for architectural practice and process, Alexandra is also the Practice Integrated Management System Lead and has been a mentor to the GB-A team for over three years.
Outside of work Alexandra enjoys reading (particularly the classics), playing piano, doing jigsaws, running with her dog, gardening, making things, watching The West Wing and Friends (a daily reference is always required).
