Western Plains Correctional Centre Health Precinct

The 1248-bed Chisholm Road Prison project includes a large health facility that provides both inpatient and outpatient services for the correctional centre. The design of the building has been carefully integrated with the surrounding landscape design to provide views to landscape from as many spaces as possible to create a sense of calm within the building.

Outpatient facilities include 12 consultation rooms, two program rooms, a full dental suite, X-ray room, physio and occupational therapist room and a treatment room for minor procedures. Inpatient facilities include four 2-bed wards, a single bed ward and a bariatric ward with a shared dayroom and courtyard space. A separate wing provides eight observation cells with a small indoor communal space and a large courtyard space providing patients with access to the fresh air and nature.
