GB-A was engaged to lead the refurbishment of the heritage-listed Convent of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. The aim of the upgrade was to transform the historic convent, which once served as a residence for the nuns working at the adjacent school, into a vibrant community facility. The reimagined space incorporates modern office spaces, versatile hireable suites, functional meeting rooms, and flexible event spaces, breathing new life into the historic site while catering to contemporary community needs.

The redesign was carefully informed by a comprehensive conservation management plan. Every detail was thoughtfully executed to preserve and honour the building’s history as a significant Catholic landmark within the area. This design approach ensured the refurbishment respected the convent’s architectural heritage, while seamlessly adapting it for modern use. The result is a revitalised, multipurpose space that serves as a functional asset to the community.
