Energy Reduction and Management Plan (ERaMP)

The Energy Reduction and Management Plan (ERaMP) program was designed in partnership with Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE) to reduce the energy and carbon footprint for the BCE school portfolio of 146 schools, in alignment with the Pope’s encyclical Laudato Si’ which focuses on “Care for our common home.”

Guymer Bailey, in partnership with BCE, 1 Circle (Energy) and Sequent Plus (Energy Management) and Hydroterra (Project Management and Water) developed the review framework, which was initially piloted with eight schools in 2017 and then rolled out to the remaining schools in their 146-school portfolio in 2019.

The work involved consultations with the school leadership team and site audits of buildings, landscape, and energy plant, followed by detailed quantitative analysis of air-conditioning systems, lighting, energy efficiency and solar PV. The analysis and recommendations looked at three key areas. Laudato Si’ Awakening to advance an ecological approach to education and resource use. Findings to benchmark the school’s present building, landscape and energy use, and lastly Key Actions to define specific actions to achieve both incremental and transformational improvements.
