Gold Coast Botanical Gardens Biodiversity Centre

GB-A was engaged by the City of Gold Coast to design the Biodiversity Centre at the Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens. The nature-based education and tourism project aims to engage and educate visitors on the local flora, fauna, history and culture of the gardens and surrounding areas.

The building provides a unique architectural and landscape architectural response where visitors will go on a “mountains to mangroves” journey that integrates with the Botanic Gardens encouraging exploration of the flora and fauna of the gardens. Invested in subtropical and sustainable design principles, the Biodiversity Centre will benefit users by providing a hub for environmental discovery and education on the Gold Coast.

The building incorporates interactive display spaces, a multi-function area for seminars and conference rooms, teaching spaces, a library, herbarium, a café and restaurant, amenities, waste storage and administration support services.
