VSBA Planned Maintenance Program

GB-A has been engaged by the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) to undertake comprehensive site investigations and compliance upgrades for government schools across metropolitan and regional schools in Victoria, under the Planned Maintenance Program (PMP). The PMP delivers high-priority maintenance and essential upgrades across the state, ensuring that students and staff have access to safe, modern, and engaging learning environments.
The works focus on addressing key defects and compliance issues within classrooms and other facilities, identified through each school’s Rolling Facilities Evaluation (RFE), Shelter in Place (SIP), and switchboard assessments. Through detailed structural, plumbing, mould, arborist, and Building Code of Australia consulting investigations, the scope for each school is refined to target vital compliance upgrades. Refurbishment items include new flooring, interior and exterior painting, building linings, signage, updated furniture, fixtures and equipment, as well as external works to address corrosion, roof leaks, and enhancements to shelter and fire safety.
GB-A is collaborating with the following schools to deliver these essential upgrades:

  • Anglesea Primary School, Grovedale West Primary School & Lara Primary School
  • Belmore School and Chatham Primary School
  • Blackburn Primary School and Blackburn English Language School
  • Norris Bank Primary School and Penders Grove Primary School
  • Marlo Primary School and Orbost Community College
  • Malvern Valley Primary School and South Melbourne Park Primary School
  • Croydon Community School and Mountain Gate Primary School

The project involves careful planning of staging and decanting, coordinated with the local CFA and relevant authorities, particularly for sites with shared infrastructure and proximity to flame zones, to ensure the upgrade works are delivered efficiently and safely. The projects are bundled across two or three schools, underscoring the critical importance of effective project management and coordination to successfully deliver upgrades across multiple sites concurrently.
